INTORDUCTION
Provision of compulsory education for all children of age group 3to14 years is a constitutional right of a child. The recent efforts to make Education fundamental right reflect an increased notional commitment to achieve the goal of universalisation of elementary education (UEE) while considerable progress has been made at achieve UEE. efforts have so for been directed towards the primary stage rather than the upper primary stage. Universalisation of primary education with respect to enrolment is a function of the relevant age group: where as educational responsibilitiof the secondary and PU college education lies with the DDPI and DDPU respectively.
Sarva shiksha abhiyan(SSA) is perhapsone of the best effort by the Government
of India to achieve its constitutional obligation of providing compulsory
elementary education to all children of age group 6-14 years.It is a
response to the demand for quality education. Their main objective is
to see that all children are in the schools, or in education guarantee
centers or in an alternative schools by 2003 to enable these children
to complete primary schooling by 2007 and elementary schooling by 2010
It also aims at bridging all gender and social gaps in elementary schooling
by 2010 and achieve 100% of universal retention by 2010 with these objectives
in view, that the perspective plan for Bellary District is prepared.
The General information
The aims of the Department
- To achieve 100% literacy.
- To Acheive Quality based education.
- To Acheive social justice through basic education.
- To Acheive the universalization of elementary education.
- An effert in effectilvely involving the panchayt raj instituation & school mangment commenttess.
- To Acheive 100% enrollment & retention.
- The above goals are baunded in a time bound frame work by 2010.
To Achieve this goals the department had several steps. those are given below.
- Convergence with other laber Department to avoid the child labour, and encourage the labours to joined their hands with department by sending their children to school at their campus with all kinds of facility.
- June 1 week of every year schools are calebrating dhakalathi andholana procasssion to ensousre the 100% enrollment of the children.
- Jatha like"Ba Bale shalege" Marali ba Shallege "Kooliinda shallege and so on processions have been made to enroll the girls invariably and to bring them to main stream.
- To encourage girls education KGBV residential Schools have been opened .
- Department has made arrangements like chinnara angala for dropout students to bring back to the main stream.
- Department has started separate school for disabled children for their education along with residence & by giving necessary equipments .
Acadimic developmental steps taken through these activities.
- To create scientific awarness in the students department created suitable circumstances by establishing science clubs in all high schools in all government aided, unaided and also some interested model higher primary schools .
- To Create environmental awarness in the students deparment of education & forest co ordinating each other emphasized by establishing Eco-clubs in high schools through No of activities through out the academic year and also develop the creativity and apprehension between environment and human being and to stimulate to the innovation attitude in the students.
- To improve the individuality of the students, the department is conducting district level quiz programme like seminor debates, science exhibition etc.,

the teaching skill in teachers as per instruction given by DSERT
through DIET number of trainings were conducted in academic development.

Information about Beneficiary Oriented Schemes
- Free text books under this scheme books distributed to 1to10th standard all girls and 1to7th standard all boys and only boys for S.C. S.T. for 8th standard the total number of beneficiairies is 319254.
- Free uniforms is distrubuted to all students for 1to7standard children and 8 to 10th girls only total number of beneficiries 292531
- Free school bags and note books distributed for 5and 7th standard to S.C. and S.T. students only. The total number of beneficiries 19046

To improve
the attendants of children, the Government has introduced midday
meal schemes for 1to 7th standard both Government and aided institutions.
The total number of beneficiries is 265000
